Mitigation and Adaptation through Ecological Agriculture
Friday, November 11, 12:45-2:00 PM at the Food4Climate Pavilion in the Blue Zone
Panelists will advocate ecological, resilient food systems as a viable path to better ensure food security in times of climate catastrophes while also reducing harmful agricultural impacts on climate change. Currently, industrial agriculture systems are a major contributor to increasing GHGs. Speakers address how we can transition away from industrial agriculture systems to ecological food systems.
Speakers:
Million Belay (Ph.D), General Coordinator, Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa
Helmy Abouleish, Chief Executive Officer, SEKEM, Egypt
Andrew Kimbrell, Director, International Alliance on Climate and Agriculture (IACA)

Advancing Ecological Food Systems to Address the Climate Crisis
Saturday, November 12, 10:00-10:40 AM at the ActionHub in the Blue Zone

Accompanied by visual presentations, speakers will outline how ecological farm and food systems are a major solution to effectively reduce GHGs while also better ensuring food and water security, equity and justice, secure jobs and livelihoods, animal welfare and species protection, and numerous other benefits.
Speakers:

Helmy Abouleish, Chief Executive Officer, SEKEM, Egypt
Andrew Kimbrell, Director, International Alliance on Climate and Agriculture (IACA)
Additional Speakers to be announced.
Seeds – Providing Resiliency and Food Security in Times of Climate Change

Climate resilient seeds, developed by indigenous peoples and farmers for millennia, play an essential role in ensuring food security especially in times of climate change. Panelists will share how farmers and communities around the globe are saving and sharing drought-tolerant, salt-tolerant and other climate resilient seeds to better ensure healthy crops and food security.
Speakers:
Dr. Vandana Shiva, Founder, Navdanya, India
Helmy Abouleish, Chief Executive Officer, SEKEM, Egypt
